Neue Analyse zeigt: Europa zählt 184 Einhorn-Startups mit einem Gesamtwert von über 540 Milliarden US-Dollar.
As technology and AI startups draw massive investment, competition for talent and market share is heating up, raising questions about sustainability, regulation, and the long-term winners in an increasingly crowded field. To share more details about Europe’s most valuable private startups, I am reaching out with a recent report exploring the world of private businesses valued at US$1 billion or more, known as unicorns.
For this report, the team at BestBrokers analysed CB Insights’ list of private startups with a valuation of at least US$1 billion, or the so-called ‘unicorns’. Data was also aggregated from Pitchbook and several other sources, regarding the largest funding rounds for private companies and company valuations throughout 2025. The full dataset used is available on Google Drive via the link.
Latest figures show that there are at least 184 startups valued at US$1 billion or more in Europe, with half based in the United Kingdom and Germany. The most valuable unicorn company in Europe right now is Revolut, which hit a $75 billion valuation in a secondary share sale in September, despite not yet having a full banking license in the UK, where it is headquartered.

Three European cities are among the world’s unicorn capitals. These are London, which is home to 47 startups valued at $1 billion or more, Paris, where 23 unicorn companies are based, and Berlin, with 20 unicorns.
Currently, the number of unicorn startups around the world stands at 1,323. More than half, or 734, are headquartered in the United States, 158 are based in China, there are 69 startups in India, and another 58 in the United Kingdom. More than 300 of the American unicorn companies are based in San Francisco and across Silicon Valley.
